New York State Police, in conjunction with Department of Corrections and the Screen Actors Guild have put out an all-points bulletin for the apprehension and arrest of convicted killers David Sweat, 34, 48-year-old Richard Matt.
In addition to the statewide manhunt for the two fugitives, actor and acclaimed film director Clint Eastwood is currently being held by U.S. Marshals, and the FBI as a ‘person of interest’ today as the man hunt continues on a grid search of the region for the escaped killers.
Sweat was serving a sentence of life without parole for the 2002 killing of a sheriff’s deputy. Matt had been sentenced to 25 years to life for kidnapping and killing a man in 1997.
When asked about Eastwood’s involvement in the daring escape, “There are just too many similarities between these killers escape and the prison escape portrayed in the block buster film “Escape From Alcatraz” staring actor Eastwood” U.S. Marshalls spokesperson said in an interview.
“We believe Eastwood may have directed the two in their escape.”
“The cut holes in the walls, climbing through the ventilation shafts, and in both cases a gun was whittled into a bar of soap if needed to discourage anyone planning to foil any escape attempt.
“We know Eastwood has played some pretty tough characters in his films,” U.S. Marshall’s spokesperson said, “Let’s see how the old codger holds up under 8 hours of bright lights and rubber hoses.”
